FAQ's

Are trial lessons free?
Trial lessons are the same price as regular lessons except you can just book and pay for one without  committing to a course of 8.

How does booking a block of lessons work?
We book lessons in courses of 8 weeks so that you guys get a regular slot and come every week making learning consistent. This has other added benefits too. We can prep for every lesson because we know who is coming to the studio that night. We can hire the best teachers as they have a guaranteed 8 weeks of advance work and therefore a certain degree of security. We can take on challenges and tasks that have a longer term plan which may span several lessons which can’t be achieved in ad-hoc lessons.

How much do lessons cost?
Hours are between £40 and £42.50

Half hours are between £27.50 and £29.00

Don’t you think lessons are expensive?
Not for what you get!!  We have amazing teachers who are picked to work for TMB because of experience, skill, passion and enthusiasm. If they can’t get you hooked on music no-one can. On top of that, they go above and beyond to make lessons productive and fun every week.

For example, when you consider that private 1-1 tennis lessons in Warwickshire average at £70 per hour we think our lessons are a bargain.  PLUS-on top of that you get so much more than a music lesson. You get to spend time in and amongst musicians, play with other students, take part in events and shows and meet other like minded people. None of this is possible with a teacher coming to your house or you going to theirs!

What exam board do you use?
We favour RockSchool grade exams as they are contemporary music exams and are equally recognised with Ucas points. But having said that, we can also teach other courses such as contemporary ABRSM or Trinity courses if that is your preference.

Do you teach groups so that the cost is shared?
We don’t teach group instrumental lessons HOWEVER we do teach group workshops and run our INTRO to MUSIC course as a group.

We have all taught group instrumental lessons in the past but they rarely work for very long. They are cheaper because of the shared cost but students all have different personalities and different speeds of processing what is being taught. They also progress at different speeds so we at TMB believe that one to one lessons might cost more per student but you progress with speed and confidence. 1-1 is the most productive way forward when learning.

Groups are great though for our 'Intro to Music' course which is designed so that you can try several instruments out over the course of a term or two and then move on to 1-1 lessons in the instrument of your choice when you are ready. Groups are also good for when you get in a BAND with other instruments!!!! And that’s fun at TMB too!
