Drum lessons

Our drum lessons are taught in our comfortable soundproofed studios at AOS or Fritwell. All lessons are one-to-one and parents of younger students are welcome to either sit in (bring ear plugs), relax in the waiting room or come back and collect at the end of the lesson… if you are one of our older students, please don't feel it is necessary to bring a parent!!

The studios are equipped with two drum kits, a good stereo system, various other percussive bits and bobs and a whole load of resource material. You can choose to follow a syllabus or we can tailor lessons to address specific concerns, queries or just to learn that ‘one' song that will make your musical life complete!

We have our own carefully developed course and award scheme where students can take bronze, silver and gold awards in their chosen instrument and music technology. Or you can choose to follow the Rockschool or Trinity Guildhall syllabus if you're after qualifications… exams are not compulsory!

Some of the things we can cover in our drum lessons:
  • Posture and technique
  • Technical stuff like rudiments, theory and reading
  • Limb co-ordination
  • Song coaching
  • Drumming fitness
  • Playing in a band

Drumming and schools – The Musical Box on tour

As well as offering private schools drum lessons during the day, we can also visit schools - inspiring pupils with various musical workshops and demonstrations. Visit our Musical Box on Tour page for more information.

Trial lessons

You can choose to have a single trial lesson – to see whether you like drumming…or even to see if you like us! Trial lessons are paid for at the time of the lesson.

Standard lessons

We run standard lessons in courses of 8. If you join mid course, the remaining lessons can be booked and paid for. This ensures you have a regular slot and enables us to plan projects and challenges that may take a while to master!

Lessons must be booked and paid for in advance – at the moment we take cash and cheques only.

Cancellation policy

We understand that there are times when things, events or whatever work against you and you can't make the day or time you booked. Providing you let us know 24 hours in advance you can rebook the lesson at any available slot within that 8 week course. Anything less than 24 hours unfortunately doesn't give us sufficient time to rebook the slot, so no rebooking is allowed…sorry.
