About Paula Backwith, Studio Director

About Paula – Studio Director and general dogsbody!

Paula grew up in a very musical environment. Both her dad and brother play a mean guitar and, much to her concern, her dad collects guitars almost obsessively!! For reasons only known to her parents, she was encouraged to learn violin, which she was very poor at, and flute, which she was very good at but it's not very rock and roll! As soon as she was old enough, Paula sold all her possessions and headed to the nearest music shop and bought her first drum kit. The kit remained hidden under a dust sheet in her parents barn until they finally discovered it and realised that she was actually very good! Once they came round to the idea, Paula and her dad used to jam in his studio. Paula spent her teen and Uni years watching Tim gig every weekend and lugging his drum kit in and out of various venues at all times of the day and night, whilst he talked to his adoring fan!

Now Paula is learning to play the bass and loves her bright pink electric bass and her gorgeous Takamine acoustic bass. She still loves her drums and is very proud that TMB has as many female drummers as male! Big up to the girls!
