BoxFest 18 - after the show

WE hope you all caught us at BOXFEST 2018!

This past weeked, Sunday the 22nd of July, we held our Annual BOXFEST, and it was utterly amazing.

This year’s performances were superb! We have the widest variety of music that we have ever seen at a Boxfest.

We had a great turn out, with some no shows, but overall, a great number of people to perform to. We had students arrive early so that they would all know where and when they needed to be ready for their personal performances.

As we have an ever moving number of students, in and out, there are always a lot of newbies to the BOXFEST way of music. Every student was well taken care of, to help make their first Boxfest performance feel great!

To those who have been to Boxfest before, they helped show us what a seasoned musician looks like, presenting themselves even better than last year’s performances.

Our first performer was the young Amara Cadd, from our Bicester Studio. She is one of two TMB students from her family! She started her hands on the drums, after her mum Denise, had been taking vocal lessons with us for a little over a year.

That is one more amazing thing about TMB: Our family feel. Many of our students have siblings or parents who also enrol in lessons, making some very musical families throughout Oxfordshire and Warwickshire. We have had the pleasure of seeing many musical families cross our stages, this year including:

The Durow Family with Matthew, Hazel and Jamie playing at Boxfest, being three siblings who take piano lessons at Bicester.

We have the Wainwright family who have sons in both keys and drums, and even mum has taken voice lessons! Zach participated in The Irrelevants, who did an amazing finale to the student performances.

The Healy family who have twins in drums and vocal lessons both performed as well!

We are always happy to have the party at our Bicester Studio so that we can all enjoy the trees and the grass. The lovely food and treats by Taste of the Country and Wicked Cookies, were a big hit! And a major shout out to our friends at North Cotswold Brewery for helping us with the beer!

It was so amazing for us all to be able to get together, the TMB family, with each of your families, to share in an afternoon of great music.

We all have spent many months watching students working hard at learning their instruments. A lot of behind the scenes work goes into putting on a day like BOXFEST and we want to make sure to thank all of those involved.

Thank you to the students!

It takes a lot of courage to get up and perform for friends, family, and strangers. The added pressures of performance can really get to some students, but we thank you for being able to open up and show us what you’ve got! Each teacher expressed how proud of their students, and all of the other students as well! We’ve never had such a strong group of student performances before!

Thank you to the parents!

Thank you for bringing our musicians to this event! We want to thank you for supporting our students. YOUR SUPPORT is vital in the success of any musical student. Without your help, pushing your student to practice, bringing them to lessons, funding the whole thing… without your support, we wouldn’t be here!

Thank you to the TMB Teachers!

Thank you all for your countless hours in helping to prepare each of your students. Your dedication to the students and their art really showed at Boxfest, through each of your students. By you helping them reach this point, you are encouraging them for all future performances, and supporting their music and progress in the best way possible. Through accompanying them in this journey, you have helped leave a very memorable mark on all of your students this year. Thank you for your continued efforts in making music lessons and performances more exciting!

Also! Thanks for playing some music of your own for us! It was fantastic to see the teachers getting together, to do what they do best- TO MAKE MUSIC!

And the biggest THANK YOU to the TMB team: Paula, and Tim, and the family helpers for organizing this event. It takes a lot to put on a show like this. Between all of the catering arrangements, to power supplies, all of the equipment, a sound guy (James Dodd, who we love and thank as well) to even the everyday stuff like arranging our lessons and making sure there are coffee and biscuits at the studios. Without your help and support, the schools would literally not be here.

Thank you all for another amazing year at TMB. We have a few more weeks of lessons to round off the year. We want to wish you all an amazing Summer Holiday and a warm (and hopefully sun tanned) welcome back in September!
