David Bowie a best selling artist

David Bowie’s is still a Best Selling Artist!

So since the sad passing of music legend David Bowie on 10th January 2016, there has been a huge increase in sales of merchandise and of course cd & record sales.

I’ve just heard that Royal Mail are even issuing a set of David Bowie stamps on 14th March. On further investigation, I discovered there is a series called Music Giants which began last year with a set of Pink Floyd stamps as well!  Check out the below link!

Its sadly no surprise that David Bowie’s death last January led to him becoming the best-selling vinyl artist of 2016, with five albums featuring in the top 30.

Blackstar, shortlisted for a Mercury Prize, was the most popular, while fans also bought The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust, Hunky Dory, Nothing Has Changed and ChangesoneBowie.

Interestingly it marks the ninth consecutive year that vinyl sales have grown, from just 200,000 albums sold in 2007.

In fact I’ve found out that over the past year, a combined total of 1.62 million albums and 1.87 million singles by David Bowie have been sold, which is incredible! To mark one year since the music icon's death, Official Charts revealed his most popular tracks and albums over the last 12 months since his passing.  Check out the below link

Apparently a first pressing of his 2nd album (‘David Bowie’) recently became the most expensive item ever sold on a website called discogs – $6,826!

Something more incredible I found out was a former employee of Madame Tussauds in London paid $18,750 (£13,700) for some of the late Bowie's hair.  Let’s hope it was genuine and well washed!

Personally I wish the guy was still around producing incredible music but lovely to know his rock star status continues since his passing!

Until Next Week!
