Summer Festivals 2017

After a few weeks of Spring Holiday madness, we are ready to welcome the Summer Festival Season!

The U.K. has an amazing festival scene, appealing to all music and art enthusiasts. It seems that as soon as the Spring Bank Holiday hits, it seems that there are dozens of festivals happening every weekend.

This week’s blog is dedicated to some major festivals that happen locally which are also Family Friendly.

MAY

Coming up soon, we’ve got Oxford’s great Common People Festival (Spring Bank Holiday Weekend, May 27-28 in Oxford and Southampton.) The people who brought us Bestival have created this fun and funky festival, in two locations, which brings in a variety of music. Oxford’s location is in the beautiful South Park, which comes alive for the weekend, with fun rides, great colourful scenes, plus the amazing music. This year’s major headliners are Rag N’Bone Man, Sean Paul, Pete Tong- conducting music from Ibiza, and Foals are doing a DJ set.  Check out their website for more information about tickets and events.

JUNE

In June, the beautiful town of Witney is throwing a music festival, called Witney Music Festival. This festival  is a “Free, not for profit festival staged over 17 days, and featuring a major one-day open-air event with music and attractions for all the family.” The event boasts to have over 50 bands over 10 genres of music! The Open-Air event will be held on June 10th. They also have a great Battle of the Bands, which if you’ve got some tunes prepared, you can still enter into! Check out their Website for more information.

JULY

Heading into July, as things are hopefully heating up, here in the U.K., the next festival stop for us would be Cornbury Music Festival, located in The Great Tew Park, July 7-9. This is a great opportunity to grab the tent, your wellies and get ready to help them celebrate “A Fabulous Finale.”

Yes, this is Cornbury Festival’s final year. In efforts to go out with a Boom, they’ve got some pretty great names on their Line-up such as Keiser Chiefs and Brian Adams!

From their website, “Like the best of England, The Cornbury Music Festival is civilised, charming and irresistible – a homespun melting pot where music-lovers share pies and a glass of champagne with superstars, toffs, rockers, crooners, Morris dancers, farmers, urbanites, fashionistas, gourmet chefs and little old ladies who make exceptional cakes.”

Check out their website for more information on this Family Friendly Festival in their final year!

AUGUST

Our final summer festival for the summer is Wilderness Festival, also located in Cornbury, August 3rd-6th

This is a fun filled, camp away weekend, with more Major names (Two Door Cinema Club, Bonobo, Hudson Taylor) from a variety of genres on the Line up! The diverse tastes in music make this ideal for any family.

Wilderness has a general goal to make their festival feel as though you are a part of a growing community, enriching your soul with music and art. A Direct and beautiful quote from their website states this aim, “Wilderness is a community. It has a pulse and a beating heart, and thousands of colourful heroes coursing through its veins. Its population is the lifeblood. You are vital in this community.”

Check out the stunning and creative community at their website.

Here at TMB we LOVE music, and festivals are a great way to expose yourself to different kinds of music. We hope that you can all get yourselves out to see some of the great music festivals that our region has to offer this summer!

In fact - GO TO THEM ALL !!!!

Love
